Monthly Comics Cost Too Much

Over at The Beat, Heidi McDonald mulls over the 19% drop in comic periodical sales for May 2009. While she offers some of the standard reasoning, from various source,s the elephant in the room is the $4.99 cover price.

Why should anyone pay the price of a 200+ page magazine for a 32-page comic?
